The peace lily (Spathiphyllum) is a popular houseplant with the following characteristics:
Leaves: Glossy, dark green, and oval-shaped, with a pointed tip. The leaves grow directly from the base of the plant and are usually 12–18 in long and 3–6 in wide.
Flowers: White, spathe-like flowers that bloom from spring to late summer. The flowers are made up of a white spathe, which surrounds a central spadix that contains tiny flowers. The flowers are lightly fragrant and resemble calla lilies. As they age, the flowers turn a pale green.
Growth: Peace lilies grow in a clumping formation, with leaves and flowers emerging directly from the soil. They grow in a dense, upright form and are well-suited for indoor containers.
